Arsenal manager Unai Emery has disclosed that he once wanted to sign Manchester United’s Chilean forward Alexis Sanchez while managing Paris Saint Germain.
The Spanish manager revealed the story while doing the pre-match briefing for Arsenal’s FA Cup clash with Manchester United in London tonight.
Following the previously confirmed stories that he had tried to sign Alexandre Lacazette and Mohamed Salah at PSG, the Spaniard was asked to further confirm if the same was true regarding Sanchez.
“Yes, yes. He is a very good player and when I was at PSG, we thought he could help him,” he told journalists.
“[Why didn’t it happen?] The circumstances. We spoke about a lot of players, about a lot of important players, and one was the possibility of Alexis. But it was not possible.”
