A Nairobi lawyer accused of stealing millions from his client has been charged.
Simon Shivaji was accused of making away with Kshs6.5 million that belonged to his client Nelly Mutua.
The lawyer reportedly received the disputed amount between the months of March and July of 2015.
As a lawyer, Shivaji, 43, had been mandated to receive the amount deposited by a buyer of a plot in the city and then remit it to the account of his client.
Shivaji, reportedly, in the South C land deal, accepted the payment posing as Mutua’s agent.
The buyer deposited the money in two instalments but it was never transferred to Mutua’s account. However, the lawyer only sent a copy of an application to transfer the cash to the account of the complainant.
