Manchester United star Fred asked to be left out of the club’s trip to Dubai because his partner is heavily pregnant. The Brazilian has struggled since joining Manchester United in a £52million deal from Shakhtar Donestsk and will be hoping Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s appointment can kick-start his Old Trafford career.
The Norwegian opted to take his squad to Dubai this week for some warm weather training as they prepare for Sunday’s Premier League clash against Tottenham. However, Fred was a notable absentee from the squad and the Daily Mail claim the midfielder stayed in Manchester to be with his partner, Monique Salum, who is expecting their first child together.
Fred was criticised for his display in United’s 2-0 FA Cup third round win against Reading on Saturday. It was the Brazilian’s first start under Solskjaer but he failed to impress and gave the ball away on many occasions.
Paul Pogba was another absentee from United’s travelling party on Sunday but the Frenchman joined his team-mates in the Middle East 24 hours later. Pogba had to stay in Manchester to receive treatment on an injury.
