The Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet on Thursday named new eight police commanders. They are Philip Ndolo- Nairobi, Judy Ndenda- Central, Edward Mwamburi- Rift Valley, and Marcus Ochola- Coast.
Others are Eunice Kihiko- Eastern, Paul Soi- North Eastern, Rashid Yakub- Western, Dr Vincent Makokha-Nyanza. In a press statement the IG said their predecessors would be deployed elsewhere in the force but would retain their ranks. He said the new appointments reflect gender parity and ethnic balance.

Such major changes in the police force were last witnessed in February 2018 when 43 senior police officers moved in a reshuffle. Anti-Stock Theft Unit commandant Joseph Ole Tito was appointed Nairobi police boss replacing Japheth Koome
.Koome moved to police headquarters on promotion as the principal deputy to the Deputy Inspector General of Kenya Police Edward Mbugua. The then principal deputy to the Deputy Inspector General of Kenya Police Kingori Mwangi was moved to Kiganjo Police Training as commandant taking over from Noor Gabow who was named the DIG- Administration Police.
Gideon Amalla, Peter Mwanzia and William Saiya were posted from police to the ministry of interior for redeployment.
