Oxlade Chamberlain nearing return

Liverpool ace Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain suffered a devastating injury in the Champions League last season.

But now the Ox is on the mend – and he’s overcome a major hurdle.

The Liverpool midfielder has been out of action since April, when he damaged the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee against Manchester City, and was tipped to miss the vast majority of this season.

But it seems the former Arsenal star may be back sooner than many expected.

Yesterday he posted a pictured of himself running outside with two coaches at the Reds’ Melwood training ground

With it he included the caption: “That feeling when you’re finally back out on the grass for the first time in 8 months.”

Fans couldn’t wait to share their joy with one writing: “Oh my god! Can’t wait for your grand return!”

One over-egged it a little by writing: “This is the ultimate Christmas for me.”

But another fans said: “Great news!! Hope everything will going smoothly hahhaa.”

That feeling was certainly echoed by Liverpool stars if Salah’s latest instagram story is anything to go by.

In it the Egyptian King shows his festive training preparations – complete with that shot of Oxlade-Chamberlain running outside with his team-mates.

Over it he captioned: “Sharing the initial Instagram post from the 25-year-old, Salah posted: “It was a joy watching you run again.”

Last month Oxlade-Chamberlain posted a short clip shows the 25-year-old juggling the ball with both feet at Liverpool’s Melwood base before firing a shot at the crossbar with his left.

He misses the target, but he certainly appears to be on the road to recovery, despite his right foot still not feeling up to scratch.

Oxlade-Chamberlain posted the footage to his Instagram page, where he also wrote: “Right peg isn’t fully there yet but at least the lefty still works.”
