Here are the three big deals that Chelsea are looking to complete in January

Fekir is one of Chelsea's transfer targets

Maurizio Sarri and his merry men have half an eye on the upcoming January transfer window despite the hectic Premier League scheduled they currently find themselves in. Chelsea are currently 11 points off the pace of league leaders Liverpool and are looking for that extra bit in jazz in January to close that gap. Below we look at Chelsea’s three ambitious targets for the winter transfer window and the likeliness of them completing the signings.

Nabil Fekir

A man who has been linked with the Blues for months now is former Liverpool transfer target Nabil Fekir who looked set to sign for the Reds in summer before the move fell through due to his previous injuries.

Chelsea have identified Fekir as a man who could improve their midfield however they now face competition from Real Madrid for his signature as the Spanish giants have been offered the attacking midfielder, as a potential replacement for Isco.

Chelsea will have to go big to secure his signature and it seems a difficult one to pull off for the Blues but they have the funds to go out and make this happen. It could be left up to the player to either stay at Lyon until the summer, or make the move to either Real Madrid or Chelsea.

Gonzalo Higuain

Higuain is a man who has worked closely under Maurizio Sarri before during their time together at Napoli and the Italian boss is keen to bring him back under his wing at Stamford Bridge. This is a move that could happen given the fact that Chelsea possess Alvaro Morata, a striker who has failed to make the grade in London so far and a man who could be keen on a return to Serie A.

A potential swap deal has been talked about with AC Milan looking to avoid the repercussions of Financial Fair Play after spending big over that past few transfer windows. Morata had great success with Juventus in Serie A and would be open to a return. We don’t see many swap deals but this could be one that benefits both teams.

Callum Wilson

A striker is a priority in this window for Chelsea and if they fail to land a big name in January they could turn their attention to Bournemouth’s Calllum Wilson a man who has been on fire this season. £30m is the fee that has been mentioned but Eddie Howe is determined to keep hold of his star man. However, Wilson could find the pay packet Chelsea are able to offer him, plus the lure of European football, too hard to turn down and could force a move through.

Having said that, he is settled with his young family in Bournemouth and is unlikely to want to unsettle them which could prove to be a stumbling block for Sarri and his staff. I don’t think this one is going to happen.
