Probox drivers on the spot for defying Matiangi’s directive

Many Kenyans are ignorant about the law  until someone is found on the wrong side of it. Although it may seem like no one is watching, we all know that the days are always numbered. Perhaps probox drivers do not seem to know about the 40 days of a thief.

Probox drivers are now on the spot for defying Matiangi’s directives. CS Fred Matiangi has stated that probox cars should no longer be used as public service vehicles.

All county traffic bosses were tasked to ensure that the illegal PSVs are removed from roads immediately since they were leading to increased road carnage.

There were complaints that proboxes drop and pick passengers at undesignated points without considering the lives of the passengers. The vehicles also overload which could even lead to the causing of accidents.

Have you ever taken a probox for a matatu? You must know what I am talking about. From transporting people to animals and all sorts of heavy goods.

The vehicles were only restricted to do taxi business . But seems like the drivers do not care much about these orders

The police were ordered to carry out a countrywide crackdown on these Probox (cars) and other private cars.

This directive was issues months ago and even emphasized during the reinstating of the Michuki rules.  Early today, online reports revealed that Kiambu county is among the regions where probox drivers are not ready to abandon the culture of using their vehicles as matatus.

One man describes Migori County as the home of the ‘ Probox’ machines. You have all heard stories of how many people can fit in one Probox. Well not fit but squeeze..

Many had hoped that he ‘Probox’ situation will be unheard of with the Michuki rules in place. Not just in Migori County but in other regions where this behavior is the daily bread.

Yet the news have it again that Michuki rules have not yet tamed these drivers.

What do you think should be done to stop this probox menace?
