KCPE Candidates to know their Secondary schools before Christmas

The selection of candidates who will join Form One in 2019 will start on December 3, Education Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed has said.

Speaking at Star of the Sea Primary School in Mombasa while releasing the 2018 KCPE exam results Monday, Ms Mohamed said that the selection will be done only once unlike previously when there has been a second selection.

The CS also revealed that over 50 percent of the candidates scored over 250 marks.

Two candidates emerged tops in this year’s exams with 453 marks.

“I congratulate the Class of 2018 for demonstrating to all of us that hard work bears fruits and that true success is culmination of honest and dedicated effort.we will guarantee 100 per cent transition,”said Mohammed.

The Education CS further revealed that female candidates performed better than their male counterparts in English, Kiswahili and Kenyan Sign Language. On the other hand,male candidates performed better than their female counterparts in Mathematics,Science,Social Studies and religious education.

Amina said the results were a true reflection of hard work as credibility was maintained throughout adding that the few cases of attempted cheating were nipped it in the bud.

Students who scored 400 marks and above are 12,273,301 to 400 marks is 228,414, 201 to 300 is 574,927,101 to 200 is 234,573 while those that scored between 0 to 100 is 2,177.

The number of boys that sat for exams is 527,294 which is 50.1 per cent while the number of girls is 525,070 which is 49.9 per cent.

The total number of KCPE students is 1,052,364.  Candidates can check their results by sending their index number to 20076.
