Is the Uwezo Fund Kenya page run by a conman? The guy is allegedly called Owen Kimurgor and has been conning desperate Kenyans.
Well, apparently, a huge number of Kenyans have falling prey to the guy who is making his cool millions from jobless Kenyans who wish to get the money from the government agency and start their own enterprise soon. So, how doe it happen????
“You log in to the page. You try to apply the loan. You’re told to first deposit Kshs 270. After depositing,he blocks you,” commented an alleged victim who is in the know about the tactics used by the conman online.
“It has come to our attention that fraudulent persons have created a facebook page “Uwezo Fund Loans online” with the intention of defrauding innocent Kenyans. Uwezo Fund is a Government revolving Fund that issues loans to GROUPS of Youth, Women and Persons with Disabilities at the Constituency level where the groups are based. The Uwezo Fund Constituency Committees vet and recommend group the groups to the Board. The loans are interest free and there is no processing fees.” read a statement from the agency.
The Uwezo Fund exists to expand access to credit for the promotion of youth and women business and enterprises at the constituency level and thereby enhance economic growth towards the realization of the goals of Vision 2030. Uwezo fund is a programme that benefits Youth Women and Persons with Disability who are in groups. We do not fund individual Entrepreneurs and we encourage you to form and register groups to benefit from the fund. ELIGIBLE AMOUNT (a) For administration of the Fund:- The access by eligible groups of the Fund, shall be on a firstcome first served basis, subject to assessment andapproval of the loan, provided that the Committee shall ensure equitable distribution of funds in the wards Eligible qualifying amounts for a group shall be a minimum of fifty thousand 50,000) and a maximum of five hundredthousand (500,000) shillings at any one time. (b) In determining the total amount a group is eligible to receive, the following criteria shall be applied:- The length of time the group has been in existence The total amount contributed by the group The current status of contribution and The proposed business plan for the loan applied NB: The eligible amount shall be three times the group savings BUT it shall not be:- Below Kshs. 50,000 (Minimum), More than the amount applied for in the application form and More than Kshs. 500,000 (Maximum)
