Kenya has received a major boost in the security sector with international bodies giving support and training to security agencies to fight crime in East African region.
The DCI has stepped a major manhunt for all suspects believed to be involved in the economic crimes. in the country
On september 14 2018 ,In a meeting with Matiang’i, Interpol agreed to help in hunting fugitives – Matiang’i and Jurgen Stock also agreed to partner in dealing with regional security ,the fight against illegal goods in the country is set to receive a boost after the secretary general of the International Criminal Police Organization, (Interpol) promised to help in fighting transnational crimes.
The organisation’s boss, Jurgen Stock, visited several officials concerned with national security on Friday, September 14, in Nairobi.
The Kenya Directorate of criminal investigations Kenya unit is tasked with the following functions :
1.Initiating or taking over complicated Homicide Cases all over the Republic
2.Taking over or initiating cases under the penal Code and other Acts of Parliament as directed by the DCI
3.Taking over or initiating investigations of complicated robbery with violence cases
4.Investigations of organized crimes
5.Investigations of kidnapping
6.Investigation/Taking over of Human Trafficking cases
7.Criminal cases involving Police Officer
8.Investigation of complicated frauds and other thefts
9.Investigations of VIP cases where as complainant or suspects no matter minor it is.
10.Investigations of Environmental Crimes
11.Investigations of Cyber Crimes
