The push for referendum by Raila is meant to reduce the burden for the mwananchi , to reduce the wage bill. Ekuru Aukot in his agenda for constitutional amendment almost has the same slogan as Raila Odinga. Aukot wants the burden of the citizens to be reduced.

Aukot joins other leaders such as the Deputy President,William Ruto who has the same call for referendum with similar aim of reducing the burden. Ruto at first was against this call but he announced his support for the constitutional amendment as long as it reduces the burden of living of the normal citizens.
