Detectives on Thursday, October 4th obtained a knife belonging to Maribe and took it for forensic tests to establish if it was the murder weapon used to kill Monica Kimani.

Materials from the crime scene are also undergoing DNA testing to conclusively establish persons who may have been in the bathroom where Ms. Kimani was found with her mouth taped, hands tied at the back, legs bound and her throat slit.

Police say they recovered Monica’s phones that the killer immersed in water. The phones were analysed and gave crucial information. Police added that Pieces of cloth subjected to forensic tests also provided crucial clues.

Detectives were also exploiting electronic devices of Ms. Kimani, Joseph Irungu, Jacque Maribe, and a neighbour. This is for recovering text messages and location data.

Reports have revealed that there was no struggle or noise made by Monica when her killer struck.

Monica’s body was discovered by her brother George in a bathtub at her Luciane apartments on Kitale Lane off Dennis Pritt road on 20th September 2018.

“I came to check on her since my mother had called and she wasn’t picking. I sent her a message but she never replied yet we were to meet since she was to travel to Dubai today,” said George.

Police reports concluded that Monica’s killer was highly trained and executed her with the precision of a trained assassin.

JOWIE Irungu’s FINGERPRINTS MATCH

DNA tests and fingerprint analysis have also placed Joseph Irungu at the scene of the murder of Monica Kimani, according to detectives.

The new findings have placed Irungu, alias Jowie, at the heart of the investigation into the murder of the woman whose body was found in a bathtub in her Nairobi apartment with her throat slit.

DNA tests on semen found on the slain girl and other samples from under her nails confirmed with a 99.9 percent accuracy that they belonged to Irungu.

A senior officer involved in the probe says police are now working on witnesses.
