As a Frenchman who has played in England and Italy, it’s clear that Paul Pogba boasts some impressive language skills, but few expected him to speak perfect Spanish.
Yet that’s exactly what the Manchester United midfielder did when asked a question by a Peruvian journalist at the World Cup.
Even though he was asked the question in English and even though he has never played for a Spanish club, the player replied in fluent Spanish.
“They are a very strong and solid team, who play together and who have quality players,” he said when asked to analyse Peru’s World Cup.
“They’ve had bad luck.
“I think Peru had to win their first match against Denmark, but they had bad luck.
“The most important thing is that we beat them and went through.”
France defeated Peru 1-0 in their second match of this World Cup, knocking the South American side out.
