Rio Ferdinand torn between Messi’s Argentina and Nigeria’s Super Eagles

Former England and Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has confessed that he is divided over who he wants to qualify for the round of 16 between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and Argentina. The Super Eagles and Argentina square off in a Group D Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup decider on Tuesday in Saint Petersburg. Going into the game, the Super Eagles are second in the group on three points while Argentina are bottom with just one point. Ferdinand holds a Nigerian chieftancy title and is a big admirer of Argentina captain Lionel Messi.
“I’m torn… Nigeria vs Argentina.. one part of me wants one of the best players ever (Messi) to produce some magic for us to be entertained but the other part of me wants my Nigerian friends to go on and produce a magical team display. I’m torn!!!!” Ferdinand tweeted on Tuesday afternoon.
He posted a picture of himself in Nigerian attire taken during the ceremony of his chieftancy. Ferdinand was given a chieftaincy title, Fiwagboye, by Oba of Lagos Rilwan Akiolu when the United legend visited Nigeria in 2008.
