Super Eagles suffer successive defeats

The Super Eagles of Nigeria failed to soar in their last World Cup friendlies with a repulsive performance against Czech Republic following a disappointing 1-0 loss on Wednesday.

A first-half strike from Halas in the first half decided the tie in favour of the European side as the Eagles were unlucky with the several chances they created in the second half.

The closest the Nigerian team came to scoring in the first half was courtesy of Wilfred Ndidi who hit a speculative effort from long range that almost beat the goalkeeper who had to save at full stretch.

Gernot Rohr’s men dominated the second half of the game but poor decision in the opponent’s half and a terrible miss from Victor Moses denied them the chance to level the tie, which was interrupted for close to ten minutes due to heavy downpour. Poor organisation at set pieces, and a lack of cutting edge up front condemns the Super Eagles to a second straight friendly defeat.

Nigeria will head into their first group game against Croatia on the 16th without a win in their last three matches which saw them grind out a 1-1 draw against Congo DR, a 1-2 loss to England and today’s 0-1 loss to Czech Republic today.
