Sofapaka FC boss John Baraza believes that Gor Mahia FC were lucky to pick a point as they faced off at Machakos Stadium on Sunday 20 May.

Sofapaka put up a spirited fight that saw them stage a second-half comeback to lead 3-2 at the 88th minute after having gone 2-0 down at halftime. Innocent Wafula scored late to rescue the side that was starring at their first defeat.

Baraza has lauded his player’s commitment and brilliant performance in the tie. He insists that Sofapaka is still in the title race.

“First, I would like to thank my players for the commitment they put against Gor, it was not going to be an easy game. They (Gor Mahia), did not deserve to get anything from the game, they were fortunate to go home with that point. The way we played was unexpected. We are still in the title race and we are going to continue giving our best,” Baraza told the club’s official portal.

Sofapaka sit fifth with 25 points.
