Juventus in the running for Spurs defender Toby Alderweireld

Juventus have won their seventh league title in a row but they are still looking to improve.

Gianluigi Buffon is leaving the club after 17 years of service to the Italian giants.

Former Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny will be the man replacing Buffon in between the sticks but Juve are keen on raiding the Polish keeper’s former rivals Tottenham for Toby Alderweireld.

Alderweireld has missed the majority of the season, not through injury, but through being overlooked by manager Mauricio Pochettino despite the Belgian being one of the best centre backs in the world.

The 29 year old was absolutely phenomenal during the 2015/16 and 2016/17 seasons but a minor injury saw him lose his place in the Tottenham line up to Davinson Sanchez and he was never able to win it back.

Juventus conceded just 24 goals this season but manager Max Allegri, who will not be joining Arsenal, clearly wants to keep the defence as tight as possible now that Buffon is leaving the club.
