A group of women allied to the Deputy President William Ruto on Saturday stormed Tac Centre grounds in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County with bags of goodies worth millions of shillings.
Led by Uasin Gishu Woman Representative Gladys Boss Shollei and a host of 50 other women leaders, the Inua Mama group delivered a number of assets it claims will empower women in the county.
Ranging from re-usable sanitary towels, gasses, wheelchairs, water tanks, agricultural machines, motorbikes, sewing machines to car washing machines among others, the group’s investments in the products was no doubt a huge one.
The empowerment program targets youths, women and people living with disabilities.
The group, in all appearances, tours regions where women leaders allied to the group represent.
On Friday, the group was at Webuye Pan Paper grounds courtesy of Hon. Catherine Wambilianga where they also delivered a wide range of goodies for the residents.
The groups’ aim, they say is to empower women at the grassroots level both economically and socially.
However, political analysts argue that the agenda of the group is to contain another group of women dubbed Team Embrace that has been castigating DP Ruto over early campaigns.
Inua mama was established weeks after Team Embrace had gained momentum and held several rallies expressing solidarity with President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga’s Handshake deal.
The two group have had war of words before due to their different political allegiance.
