Celebrated Gospel Hope Kid has for the first time spoken about his hit collabo song with secular artist Khaligraph Jones.

Speaking during an interview, Hope Kid revealed that Gospel artists in Kenya are the most difficult people to deal with adding that it was easy for him to have a collabo with Khaligraph.

“sikupata ugumu kufanya collabo na Khaligraph ilimpigia akaniambia kuja studio day fulai nikaweka song on repeat after few minutes he was done,” he said

“It is very difficult to do a collabo with a gospel artist than secular sai nikichukua simu niambie mtu wa secular ati nko na ngoma na nataka udrop verse ataniambia kuja a producer wako studio yangu tufanye itoke lakini sai nikiambia gospel artist msee aaleta story mingi.”

Hope Kid went on to say that some gospel musicians have so much pride and ego making it difficult to approach them.

“Collabo za gospel si mingi kama secular kwa sababu wasani wa gospel wanaleta brand yake na ego,”he revealed.

Hope Kid also revealed that he does not regret collaborating with a secular artist since music is what brings food on the table and he is willing to do anything in order to survive.

“Am a gospel artist but at the same time pia nko kazi iyo ndio kitu watu wanafa kuunderstand and that is what I was given to make a living  as much as ni ministry pia ni biashara ndio inailipia rent and   am not gonna do what you want because of your religion I will do what I want to build my business and survive,” he said.

“People loved what i did with Khaligraph sababu it’s different from what you did before with a very deep content and message,  people thing ukifanya collabo na secular artist annakuvuta pande yao but wewe unawavuta pande yetu”.

Cartels in the industry

Echoing what Willy Paul had said earlier, Holiday hitmaker revealed that the music industry in Kenya is flocked by cartels who are eating from the sweat of artists.

“Cartels wameja Kenya ukienda show uambiwe unalipwa  Ksh 250,000 lakini promoter anakuambia utaenda home na 150,000 take it or leave it then pia ukikosana na promoter mmoja atakuchomea kwa wengine,” he said.
