Just some hours after promising that the government will construct a new public primary school at Ngando area, Dagoretti South, in three months, Deputy President Wiliam Ruto has been slammed by a section of online users.
Unsatisfied social media users termed Ruto’s remarks as unreliable while accusing him of waiting for a disaster to strike so as to act.
Ruto, through his Twitter account, had confirmed that the State Department of Public works and Education, in collaboration with the board of Lenana School were in the process of putting up a public primary school in the area.
He maintained that the school is expected to be ready by the beginning of January in a bid to cater for the children of Ngando, where the Precious Talent School tragedy occurred on Monday.
“State departments of Public works, Education & Youth (NYS) will work with Board of Lenana school to put up a public primary school to be ready by next term to cater for the children of Ngando area where the school tragedy occurred. The process kicked off this morning in earnest” assured DP Ruto

Ruto’s assurance came following the Precious Talent School classroom collapse, which left seven pupils dead and more than 64 others hospitalised.
The incident was partly attributed to the poor quality of classroom buildings.
Despite visiting the affected school on Monday evening and promising that construction works on a new school would start soon, Kenyans online scolded the DP reminding him of similar unfulfilled Jubilee promises in the past.
“Clueless chap, you don’t have an existing policy. All you do is a populist knee jerk reaction to endear yourself self to the public,” tweeted one user.
Others took the advantage to attack the DP, who has in the past been mentioned in a number of land-related scandals.

Despite these, Ruto assured that the Ministry of Education was going to carry out an audit to ascertain the safety of all school buildings countrywide to avert incidents that put the lives of learners at risk.
We must ensure a conducive learning experience for our children, including laying proper infrastructure and enhancing safety standards. Learners should concentrate on class work and not worry for their safety. pic.twitter.com/FBS403dWmZ

Must it wait for innocent lives to be lost for the Govt to act? Isnt this sufficient proof that your running around Kenya in rallies add zero value to common mwanainchi?

Let it not start and stop with that, the ministry should address the problem and those related across the country

Reactive management and knee jerk decisions are hopeless. These are only aimed at pacifying the masses. Hopefully, the children willl get some education but such initiatives need not cost 7 young lives.
