President Uhuru Kenyatta has made great moves in the diplomacy arena after making a number of deals with Spain on Tuesday.
Spain’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation Joseph Borell Fontelles who paid the President a courtesy call at State House, Nairobi on Tuesday, agreed to pursue partnerships in the areas of renewable energy with Kenya, particularly in solar and wind energy amove that is set to the cost of electricity especially in the nascent industrial parks.

Also, Russia promised to chip in the President’s low-income housing agenda as the Government intends to put up at least 500,000 affordable houses by 2022.
“We have many firms that can be good partners in affordable housing,” said the visiting Minister.

The Spanish Minister as well welcomed Kenya’s continued efforts to improve operations at the Port of Mombasa saying his country welcomes the reforms the country has taken to enhance efficiency at the facility.
Borell and Uhuru agreed to support each other during the forthcoming United Nations Security Council (UNSC) elections where both nations are candidates for UN seats.
President Kenyatta and the Spanish Minister underscored the importance of multilateralism in the global war against terrorism and violent extremism.
“Terrorism is a great concern for us. We have suffered terrorism so we understand,” said President Kenyatta adding that it is through solidarity and commitment between nations that the threat of terrorism can be defeated.
The visiting Minister praised Uhuru for the historic handshake with opposition leader Raila Odinga and hids resilience towards the fight on corruption.

Uhuru’s move with Russia has come just a week after Raila Odinga left the country for the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) with the participation of representatives of 140 countries .
Raila joined the Russia- Africa panel where he stressed the need for more investment in energy and infrastructure on the continent which shall lead to increased benefits between Russia and African states.
