Deputy President William Ruto has attended the funeral of former President Daniel Moi’s son, Jonathan Toroitich Moi.
He is one of the high profile guests invited for the final send off of the former Rally Driver. Other leaders present at the funeral service held at Kabarak University included; Musalia Mudavadi, Moses Wetangula, and Senate Speaker Kenneth Lusaka among others
Deputy President William Ruto said that he knew Jonathan years back.
“We have come here to stand with you and tell you Jonathan was your kin buy our friend too. I met him during YK92, he was a very simple and down to earth. He had a home in Eldoret and many friends in Eldoret,” Ruto said.
Youth for Kanu ’92 popularly known as YK’92 was an influential group of politicians that was formed with an objective of rallying support for the retired President Daniel Torotich Arap Moi.
This was prior to the first multiparty election since Kenya acquired her independence.
Deputy President William Ruto and former Lugari Member of Parliament Cyrus Jirongo are probably the most prominent members of the youth group to hold eminent national positions. Jirongo vied for Presidency in 2017 but lost terribly.
Since YK‘92, political lobby groups have come and gone every election cycle. But to date YK‘92 remains the subject of debate more than two decades after its rise and fall.
