Sex is a reality and a couple confessions reveal that even our children are having sex. As parents we might battle with it but we are hit harder by the news that our children got pregnant o infected with the sexual transmitted diseases.
The outcry is being able to offer the ‘children’ comprehensive sexual education without necessarily normalizing sexual behaviors between minors. Sexual education also depending on their age group.
I came across a tweet by a lady;Jackie Lumbasi stating that our children are having sex, and therefore we should not shy away from talking to them about sexuality. “They need protection from STIs, early pregnancy etc.” reads tweet in part.
Stating an example, she says that in Bungoma County, a 14 year old girl gave birth to triplets and the father of the children is only 13 years old. This is both shock and disappointment from the reactions that followed.
A 14 year old girl in Bungoma County, Kenya, has given birth to triplets. The father is a 13 year old boy. Our children are having sex, let us not shy away from talking to them about sexuality. They need protection from STIs, early pregnancy etc.

Jackie insists that sexual talk can no longer be a taboo and parents need to stay woke and educate their children. Natalie describes sex as a cycle of life and we all need to realize that we cannot escape that subject.
“as a As a parent, this is very disturbing. And i agree, parents need to take the responsibility of telling their children about sex education and not leave it to their teachers. We also need to come to the realization that it is the Cycle of life and can’t escape this subject” reads tweet
While many seem to run away from these bitter facts, they put their children at risk of facing huge consequences. Pregnancy cases are on the increase and such news is alarming.
Another man claims that traditionally, this would call for a celebration.Times have changed! But again, sex education was alive in among the African Traditional society, but has lately vanished as generations are separated by busy work, technology(we barely know how 2 operate)&present education systems!

Some have linked this to be a result of parents who live in a single room with their children and having sex thinking that their children are asleep yet they are peeping and learning the act.
That is true because many families are renting single rooms and yet they have sex knowing that their children are asleep yet they are not and then try to practise what they have had.

Parents have a huge responsibility and everyone in the society has an equal role to play. A couple days ago, a video went viral after a man recorded children who were apparently engaging in sex.
Kenyans reacted in fury saying that instead of the individual who spotted them; driving them away, he/she began with capturing a video of the children making advances.
The rot is rooted deep within and we all have to act fast.
What do you think should be done to children who engage in sexual activities? What will be helpful?
