Mishi Mboko’s Romance With Raila Set For Even Greener Pastures

Will Raila Odinga be on the ballot come the 2022 general elections? This is the question that many Kenyans and a group of politicians have been asking till date.

After the former Prime Minister was appointed as the AU High envoy for infrastructure and development, many people viewed his political career as a done one.

Raila through his party ODM said that he did not want to engage on the 2022 succession politics debate as he was focusing on delivering his mandate for the people of Africa.

His supporters and political confidants did not but the idea that the former PM might not make it to the ballot come 2022. Many have pushed him to take a stand on the matter but the former PM is still keeping it low key.

His political die hards though have not kept anything low key. They have already initiated talks with many of them assuring Raila’s supporters that he will be on the ballot and will in fact win the 2022 race.

Likoni MP Mishi Mboko is one of those vocal Raila Odinga fanatics that has joined in the Raila Odinga 2022 political race debate.

According to Mboko, people should not write off ODM leader Raila Odinga from the 2022 presidential race or they will be shocked.

Mboko on Tuesday said the handshake between Raila and President Uhuru Kenyatta does not stop the Opposition chief from running in 2022.

Mboko said the building bridges initiative is part of Raila’s strategy to succeed Uhuru. “Raila has gone back to the drawing board for strategies,” Mboko said.

She spoke at Bethania School in Likoni during a funds drive for Luo Progressive Group.

Raila’s critics have urged him to quit politics after his appointment as African Union High Representative for Infrastructure Development.

“Hold your horses. He will soon unleash his plan for 2022,” Mboko said.

The legislators said Mombasa governor Hassan Joho remains an option if Raila decides not to run.

“Politics is like a relay race where the political baton can be passed over to Joho if Raila chooses to quit,” she said.

Mboko’s remarks come days after Senate Majority leader Raila Odinga declared that Raila will contest for Presidency but under a Parliamentary System of Governance.

Orengo said Raila had struggled for democracy in Kenya and must be rewarded accordingly.

“Raila has fought for multiparty democracy of this country and he is the person who can liberate Kenyans from economic problems facing us,” said Orengo.
