Have you ever imagined that a Kenyan National team could dump the Kenya Airlines for another country’s airline? Well, then Kenya Airways was just recently dumped by a national team that was travelling abroad for international games.
Just recently, the Ethiopian Airlines had a chance of flying the Kenya National Rugby team 15’s to Paris where they were to take their games.
Ranked at 28th position in the world rugby rankings, the Simbas, as well known, had been scheduled to play Canada, Hong Kong and Germany in their world cup slot.
But why did they opt for Ethiopian Airlines instead of Kenya Airways?
Kenyans on Twitter had to condemn Kenya Airways for being too expensive.
They argue that Ethiopian Airlines is more affordable than KQ.
The Kenya Rugby Union has also been blamed for being disorganized whilst other blames landed on the government for not sponsoring the team that was leaving for a world cup challenge.
Kenyans say that the simbas had to use the Ethiopian airline to cut the costs. But I know some will argue on the issue of patriotism. Do you think by simbas flying on an affordable airline means they are not being patriots to Kenya?
Generally speaking Ethiopian Airlines is more affordable than KQ. And when we don’t fund our national teams they have to cut costs! Then we find ourselves in such situations! And if we qualify for the Rugby World Cup… Mmmh #TheScoreKE pic.twitter.com/T3Aa03U060

Why isn’t the current chairman opening his eyes? Why can’t he get sponsors like kina Mwangi Muthee did? Why is every sponsor abandoning KRU? Why can’t the union account for the money given to them? Why can’t the union stop moving money to personal accounts? Blame KRU leadership
