Breaking: JSC Gets New Chief Registrar; Uhuru’s Cousins in Court Over 433-Acre Land & CoB Exposes Globe Trotting County Officials

Good morning,

On Monday, Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki ordered a crackdown on organizers and financiers of the heckling that was witnessed during President William Ruto’s Kericho and Bomet rallies.

Kindiki ordered security agencies to move swiftly and rein in disorder during political meetings days after a section of Kericho residents heckled Governor Eric Mutai in front of Ruto.

During the visit, the head of state watched helplessly as the crowd shouted at the governor with reports indicating that the hecklers were hired hands instructed to express their dissatisfaction with their local leaders.

Ruto had on several occasions warned that he would not tolerate such chaos in his meetings.

Kindiki noted that there was a specific group of high-ranking individuals who were facilitating the now-frequent disruption of political rallies as he called on security agencies to apprehend organizers, financiers, and perpetrators of hooliganism.

The move has, however, attracted backlash from a section of Kenyans led by the opposition who termed it as suppression of freedom of speech and expression.

Do you think the government is justified in ordering the arrest and persecution of hecklers during such public rallies?
