Raila Junior Celebrates Waititu’s Impeachment

ODM leader Raila Odinga’s son, Raila Junior, on Thursday, joined Kenyan Netizens in celebrating the impeachment of Former Kiambu Governor, Ferdinand Waititu.

The embattled politician was ousted after he was found guilty of Constitution violation, committing crimes under national law, gross misconduct, and abuse of office.

In a social media post, Raila Junior expressed his pleasure at the decision by Senate to kick Waititu out, indicating that the system had begun functioning properly, with Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko also staring at a possible exit, and maintaining a significant political silence.

Sonko, who prior to his December arrest and remand woes, had been an ardent social media user, was notorious for leaking recorded conversations and documents to the public, whenever such acts would play in his favor.

In one such instance, he leaked a recording of a phone call with Waititu in 2018, when the Nairobi county government had arrested the latter’s wife, in connection to an illegal construction site within the Nairobi CBD.

In the call, Waititu is heard pleading with Sonko to release his wife, a request the Nairobi county boss finally obliges to, after taunting his former counterpart for several minutes.

Raila Junior, in his Thursday post, noted how peacefully quiet the political scene had become, with Sonko now practically out of the picture.

”Now that Waititi has gone, it’s been two months of no Sonko, no stunts, no recorded phone calls with abusive conversations, no press statements with unverified documents,” he said.

”I’m loving it,” he sarcastically added.
