Why The Bruno Fernandes Capture is A Positive Step For Manchester United

After a six-month-long tussle, Manchester United is finally set to land long term target Bruno Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon. The Portuguese midfielder will be unveiled before the end of this week and could even face Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday.

Below we highlight why his capture is a huge positive for the team and club as a whole.

Adds Creativity From Midfield

One of Manchester United’s biggest problems this season has been the lack of a creative presence in the middle of the park. The Red Devils struggle to create from the midfield and the situation was made worse by the injury sustained to Paul Pogba earlier on in the season.

In 17 games this season, Bruno has contributed 8 goals and seven assists for Lisbon. With the likes of Fred and Matic behind him as well as Marcus Rashford ahead of him once he recovers from his injury, the midfielder could find himself engaged in more goal contributions for his new club.

Cools Down A Frustrated Fanbase

Manchester United fans have long been angered by how the club is run since Sir Alex Ferguson retired. The team is not a Champions League regular and rarely plays with conviction in the Premier League.

Indeed, there were reports on Wednesday morning claiming that goons had visited Ed Woodward’s house and violated the backyard as a sign of frustrations due to a lack of transfers.

The Fernandes signing will at least calm down the fans, for now.

No Pogba, No Problem

It has long been reported that French midfielder Paul Pogba will not be at Manchester United beyond this season. The academy graduate is on the radar of Real Madrid and Juventus.

With Fernandes now at Manchester United, it means that the club is thinking of life without Paul Pogba as they both offer the same qualities.
