Court Summons TangaTanga MP

A court has summoned embattled Tanga Tanga MP after a story emerged of school pupils swimming across a river to attend school.

Mumias East MP Benjamin Washiali was summoned after reports revealed that pupils learning at Petros Primary School resorted to swimming across River Lusumu to and from school.

The pupils were left stranded after a make-shift wooden bridge they used before was swept away by the rains late last year.

The shorter, younger pupils relied on their older schoolmates to carry them across the breadth of the river to and from school.

Area MP Benjamin Washiali blamed the journalists behind the story as having a hidden agenda to push as the kids had an option of attending a school that is on their side of the riverside.

Also summoned was Malaha-Isongo- Makunga MCA Lucas Radoli after it emerged the leaders were doing little to repair the bridge despite the lives of the school-going children being at great risk of drowning.
