Aubameyang Strikes To Rescue Arsenal Against Bournemouth

Arsenal failed to win in their first match under Mikel Arteta following a 1-1 draw with AFC Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.

Arsenal was by far the better team especially in the first half but could not find the perfect finish. Alexandre Lacazette was guilty of missing three in the first 3o minutes.

First, he was set up by Reiss Nelson but his finish was wide off the mark then minutes later, he blasted over the ball from inside the box. The hosts eventually went ahead with their first real chance of the game.

Makeshift left-back Bukayo Saka lost the ball in a dangerous position and Bournemouth quickly played the ball forward where Dan Gosling was on hand to finish at the near post.

Arsenal did reply in the second half through the skipper Piere Aubameyang who cooly finished after a Reiss Nelson shot was deflected into his path.

Arsenal should have had a second minutes later but again Lacazette fluffed his lines after being put through on goal by Granit Xhaka. Late in the game, Joe Willock had a chance to square the ball to Nicholas Pepe but he choose to shoot and the ball was easily collected by the goalkeeper.

The match ended in a one-all draw that leaves Arsenal 11th in the table with 24 points while Bournemouth two places above the relegation zone with 20 points.
