FPL Week 19: Guiding Tips To A Productive Gameweek

IT’S CHRISTMAS! But that doesn’t mean that you are allowed any time off, in fact, the FPL grind only gets more difficult over the festive period with a huge amount of fixtures to negotiate and that dreaded rotation policy to avoid.

We’ve got our three Christmas tips for you to have a very merry Christmas.

Bring in Jack Grealish

The only specific player pick this week. Grealish has had an impressive season so far yet is still priced at a reasonable £6.3m, having hit the net in a 3-1 defeat to Southampton last time out. With Norwich and Watford, the two teams at the bottom of the league up next, now is the perfect time to bring in the Brummie.

More importantly over this festive period, Villa’s captain is unlikely to be dropped by Dean Smith, as he has such a huge influence on this side. A sensible, yet potentially perfect pick. Back the Villa man to be in the goals in these key relegation match-ups.

How to avoid the dreaded rotation

It may be boring, but it is vital to make sure you have a reliable squad full of 15 players who are at the very least likely to play, is the best way to gain points. Manchester City players may get you the big points one game, but Pep’s tendency to change his key players, especially with two games in 46 hours, makes those players the ones to avoid.

Instead, invest in the unfashionable, but reliable players for each side if you can.

Get your team sorted early

How many times have we seen this? Missing the deadline as you are tucking into some Celebrations or sleeping off the Christmas hangover. Make your changes now! Get it done and save your team, then at least you have done some preparation for the gameweek rather than leaving it until the last minute, as most of us do on a Saturday morning.

We have a deadline on 11.30 Boxing Day, before the following game week starts just two days later, and then a third game week on New Year’s Day! In the week after Christmas when it is difficult to keep track of what day it is, make sure you have your reliable captain selected and try to keep an eye on your team.

Most importantly, however, make your changes early to avoid that dreaded Christmas regret!
