Waiguru’s Corruption Lecture Terribly Backfires as Kenyans Unleash Wrath

Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru’s attempt to initiate a discussion into the state of corruption on Tuesday backfired terribly, as Kenyans, most who had been waiting for a chance to reprimand her for threatening musician King Kaka with a lawsuit, jumped on her post to give her a piece of their minds.

The county head had taken to Facebook to advise leaders to prudently utilize public funds instead of engaging in the rampant looting being witnessed in the country.

Angry Kenyans, still bitter at the fact that the former Devolution CS walked away without a blemish, from the Ksh791 million NYS scandal, however, wondered how audacious the politician is, to think that she has the moral authority to lecture them on the topic of corruption.

“It’s an inescapable fact that corruption has stifled development and adversely crippled our economy, and that is why we should all support the ongoing efforts to fight this scourge,” the governor wrote.

As if anticipating attacks regarding funds lost during her tenure as a cabinet secretary, Waiguru in her post had included a disclaimer on the NYS issue, stating that malicious people took advantage of “weak systems to misuse public funds”, saying she took the controversy as a learning platform.

“On my part, I have used the lessons learnt in my season as CS Devolution and Planning, where some took advantage of weak systems to misuse public funds to guide my management of Kirinyaga County. No wonder we were ranked 3rd best county by Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) with regard to best practice in procurement & compliance with the law,” she added.

Nevertheless, Netizens united to castigate the governor, asking her to get off her high horse and accept the reality of her situation.

According to the demand letter sent to the rapper by Waiguru’s legal representatives, his utterances in the poetic piece, specifically mentioning her name (Waiguru) amount to defamation and implication in crimes that the governor is innocent of.

The music track released over the weekend has received immense public support, being described as the wakeup call Kenyans needed to revolt against the unjust system.

It remains to be seen if Waiguru will make true her threats to take the musician to court, seeing as he has not yet complied with her demands of taking down the music video from Youtube.
