Imran Okoth Lands New Role in Parliament

Newly elected Kibra MP Imran Okoth on Thursday landed a new role in parliament.

In an announcement made by National Assembly Chief  Whip Benjamin Waashiali, the Kibra MP was appointed a member of Constitutional Implementation Oversight Committee.

The committee is mandated with the responsibility of ensuring the constitution of Kenya is adhered to and implemented effectively.

The committee will resume its duties in February since Parliament is on a 2 months recess.

Orange Democratic Movement’s (ODM) Bernard Imran Okoth in November 2019 formally took oath as the new Kibra Member of Parliament.

He stepped into the shoes left behind by his brother, former area legislator, Ken Okoth who succumbed to cancer in July this year.

Mr Okoth emerged winner in the hotly-contested November 7 Kibra by-election garnering 24,636 votes to his closest rival and Jubilee Party candidate McDonald Mariga’s 11,230 votes.
