Top Kenyan Musician Invites Senior Crystal Palace Official To Kibra (photos)

Top Kenyan musician and founder of Grandpa Records Yusuf Noah, popularly known as Refigah, has hit a first in the football world after inviting tow influential European football executives to Kibra.

Refigah invited Crystal Palace assistant head of recruitment Jamahl Jarret to the slum area alongside City of London football club CEO Sayce Holmes Lewis.

The trio unveiled a partnership that will see Kenyan coaches benefit from professional training that will be provided by the two English teams.

Refigah also confirmed that they are working on establishing a state-of-the art soccer academy to be unveiled in due time.

“It is every man’s obligation to put back into the world at least the equivalent of what he takes out of it. Today We successfully launched a programme to train our football coaches professionally in partnership with City of London football club CEO Mr Sayce Holmes Lewis and Crystal palace assistant head of recruitment Mr Jamahl Jarret,” he told Opera Sports.

The move comes at a time when Kenyan Football is literally headed to the dogs with no money to finance most club activity.

Football Kenya Federation is currently at a loss trying to account for Kshs 244 million allocated to them for the preparation of Harambee Stars team prior to the Africa Cup Of Nations tournament held in Egypt earlier this year.

To make matters worse, the Kenya Premier League has already witnessed three walkovers dished out this season after teams failed to gather enough funds to honor matches.

Should the deal come into fruition, it would greatly improve the growth of young footballers as the country is lacking in high-quality football academies. It would also increase their chances of being scouted by high profile teams.

The event took place at the Kibra DC Grounds. The move is a way of Refigah, who was born and bred in Kibra, giving back to society. Below are photos from the event.
