Orange Democratic Movement(ODM) party candidate in the Kibra by-election Bernard Imran Okoth on Saturday received a mega boost after prominent Kamba leaders endorsed his candidature.
Led by Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua and his Kitui counterpart Charity Ngilu, the leaders pulled their weight behind the ODM candidate saying Imran represented the Handshake deal between President Uhuru Kenyatta and the ODM leader Raila Odinga.
The leaders endorsed the ODM candidate during a meeting with the Kamba delegates.
ODM leader Raila Odinga, his candidate Imran, former MP Fred Gumo and a host of ODM leaders were also present.
The campaigns for the Kibra-election will most likely come to an end on Tuesday in order to pave way for the poll slated for November 7.
Imran, who is a brother to immediate Kibra MP the late Ken Okoth, is facing stiff competition from ANC candidate Eliud Owalo and Jubilee’s McDonald Mariga.
More than 20 contestants were given nod by IEBC to contest for the seat.
The seat fell vacant after the death of Ken who succumbed to colorectal cancer.
