Embakasi East Member of Parliament(MP) Paul Ongili, alias Babu Owino, was a selfless man on matters of education in his high school days as long as you guaranteed him a plate of a meal, says his classmate.

The revelations were made on Sunday when his former classmate reacted to the MP’s social media post where he had celebrated his success in which he said he was his own hero.

“I want to take this opportunity to wish this handsome, intelligent, generous and hardworking Kenyan a happy mashujaa day. This man is my Shujaa.

First time to step in Nairobi in his life was in August 2007. Was elected a member of parliament in August 2017 in Nairobi at 29 years old and has four Most important degrees.

I have touched the lives of many and will continue doing so. Babu you are my hero and the only person I would wish to be is me. I LOVE ME,” wrote Babu in his social media accounts.

In response, the former classmate identified as Chris Sunday rekindled the selfless moments of the MP, whom despite coming from a humble background exhibited zeal and determination in helping others.

“That is my boy. This young man would spare his 30 minutes each day in high school to teach me mathematics in the final year in exchange of me allowing him to serve food from the boarding section.

He never allowed poverty to stop him from lighting the candles of other people’s lives. He gave me an A plain in Mathematics. The brightest brain I have never encountered. Happy Mashujaa day buddy,” replied Chris.

The reaction from Chris moved the MP to an extent that he shared the screenshot of the response in his social media handles and said: “This testimony has hit the G spot of my heart.”

Babu despite being an MP boasts of having a first-class in actuarial science and a degree in law.

His leadership journey began in the University of Nairobi where he was the chairperson of the student’s union.
