Malindi Member of Parliament Aisha Jumwa has been arrested following a scuffle that led to the death of ODM agent in Ganda Ward by-election.
One person was confirmed dead after he was shot during the fight. The deceased is an uncle to ODM candidate Reuben Katana.
It is reported that Jumwa stormed a meeting where the ODM was training its agents ahead of the Thursday elections.
This comes at a time when ODM party and the Malindi MP have been locking horns ahead of the by-elections with the Orange party sending its Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna to the ward to ensure the party retains the seat.
The Malindi MP, despite being an ODM member, has been supporting an Independent Candidate Omar Mohamed.
Mohamed was declared the winner of 2017 elections on the ODM ticket but ditched the party after court nullified his election.
Jumwa is reported to have sworn to teach the ODM party a lesson in the by-election for attempting to oust her on the grounds of associating with Deputy President William Ruto.
ODM party, however, has put a spirited fight in ensuring that its dominance in the coastal region is not in doubt.
The party sent Sifuna, who has been in the ward for more than a week, to ensure their candidate clinches the seat.
