INEOS 1:59 Challenge: Marathon Legend Gebrselassie Predicts Eliud Kipchoge’s Outcome

Kenyan athlete Eliud Kipchoge is in Vienna to break the human limit by running marathon in under two hours.

The historic moment has been dubbed INEOS 1:59 Challenge for its aim of clocking 1 hour 59 minutes to become the first human being to make the record. The entire project has been sponsored by United Kingdom-based Chemical firm INEOS hence the name.

Everyone has wished Kipchoge success but Olympian Haile Gebrselassie has gone ahead to pin a prediction to the best wishes.

The Ethiopian World Champion says Kipchoge will clock 1:58:57 to surpass his target.  “All my well wishes for our legend EliudKipchoge. Good luck! 1:58.57,” he tweeted and accompanied it with a video where he announced his support for the current World record holder in marathon.

“Hi my friend Eliud Kipchoge. I know you are in Vienna for the sub-2-hour event. Believe you can do it. Go go go! Good luck!” he said.

During his heydays, Gebrselassie, 46, won two Olympic gold medals over 10,000 metres and four World Championship titles in the event. He also won the Berlin Marathon four times consecutively and also had three straight wins at the Dubai Marathon.
