AC Milan Set to Appoint a New Coach

Italian Stefano Pioli is set to be named new AC Milan coach following the departure of Marco Giampaolo according to reports in Italy.

Marco was shown the door on Tuesday evening three months into the job after a difficult start to the 2019/20 Serie A campaign. It was thought that Saturday away win at Genoa would buy him more time at the San Siro but the club opted to pull the plug on Tuesday evening and announced his departure.

Pioli is now set to take over the reins at the club. The 53-year old is a former Inter Milan, Lazio, Bologna, Palermo and Chievo boss. He left Fiorentina earlier this year after a dismal run with the club and he now returns into management at Milan’s hot seat.

Milan are 13^th in the Serie A table with 9 points from seven league outings and the club management led by CEO Ivan Gazidis decided ring changes in the coaching department to help curb the poor run in the league.

Pioli faces a huge task of reforming the former European champions who have been performing poorly in recent years. Milan has missed UEFA Champions League football for a couple of years now with the team a shell of its former self.

As a coach in the Serie A, Stefano Pioli has won 109 matches and has lost 112.
