Renowned lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi on Tuesday lashed out at former DCI boss over the ongoing probe into the brutal murder of lawyer Willy Kimani, his client and a taxi driver.

The lawyer claimed that he had an encounter with the feared group that operated under Muhoro.

He further reiterated that no action was taken against the former police boss but rather he received a promotion.

“Death squads were an integral part of the CID during Muhoro’s calamitous tenure.

“I speak from experience. A man who ran death squads is Kenya’s Ambassador to Malaysia. What a shame,” remarked the lawyer.

The accusation brought up by the vocal Ahmednasir was as a result of the latest hearing of the murder of the lawyer, his client Josephat Mwenda and taxi driver Joseph Muiruri.

Four police officers were apprehended as suspects in the incident that occurred in 2016.

A police informer in the case, identified as Peter Ngugi, gave fresh evidence on what happened to the three victims.

According to Ngugi’s confession, the four suspects namely Fredrick Leliman, Stephen Cheburet, Sylvia Wanjiku, and Leonard Mwangi respectively, debated on whether to proceed with the plan even after their identities were known  by the three.

The eyewitness further pointed out that Kimani and the other two were trailed, abducted and finally killed before their bodies were dumped into River Athi at Oldonyo Sabuk.

Ngugi revealed that he was recruited as a police informer after he was arrested over allegations that he was transporting thugs in 2011.
