Giampaolo replaced Genaro Gatusso as head coach but the Swiss-Italian tactician has found the going tough at the capital. In six league matches, the team has won two and lost the other four. The team has also lost its last three games two of them being at home and now sit 16th in the table, a point above the relegation zone.

Reports in Italy now indicate that the former Empoli and Sampdoria coach could be shown the door if the seven-times European champions lose away to Genoa on Saturday night. Club legend, Shevchenko who is the current Ukraine national team manager and Marco’s assistant Tassotti have been lined-up as possible replacements for the 52-year old.

Milan have been on the decline in recent years and last won the league title in Italy in the 2010-11 season. Once a European powerhouse, Milan have been absent from UEFA Champion League for a couple of years and risk sliding further down if they do not make good investment in the transfer market.

They finished fifth in the league last term and qualified for UEFA Europa League in the process. However, they were banned from the competition by UEFA over breach of financial fair play rules.
