The burial of slain tycoon, Tob Cohen at the Jewish Cemetery has been pushed to Tuesday 2.30 pm.

The event had initially been scheduled to take place on Monday afternoon at the Jewish Cemetery on Prof Wangari Mathai Road in Nairobi.

However, the organisers could only manage to get eight Jewish priests, instead of the required 10 and a Rabbi in line with the Jewish religion, hence they decided to postpone the burial to Tuesday.

Earlier, on Monday, morning the court had allowed Sarah Wairimu, the wife of the slain Dutch businessman, to attend his burial.

High court judge, Stellah Mutuku, had ordered that Wairimu be escorted to the Jewish cemetery at 2 pm to attend the final journey of her husband.

“This court is pleased to issue a production order to the OC Lang’ata Women’s Prison, to produce and escort the applicant to Jewish cemetery to attend the funeral of the late To Cohen,” the court ruled earlier.

Both Wairimu’s and Cohen’s family lawyers had agreed that the burial of the businessman is conducted in accordance with the Jewish rights.

The media was barred from the event which was to be attended by a few family members.

Ms Sarah Wairimu, along with Robert Cohen, the late tycoon’s brother and lawyer Danstan Omari, had already arrived for the private ceremony.

Lawyer Philip Murgor is expected back in court to seek a variation of the order allowing Cohen’s widow Sarah Wairimu to attend the burial.

Cohen’s body was found in a septic tank in his compound in Nairobi nearly more than a month after he went missing.
