Marianne Kitany on Wednesday presented fresh evidence in court during the ongoing hearing of the divorce case against Meru Senator Mithika Linturi.

The once Chief of Staff in the Deputy President office, provided photos as proof of her marriage with Linturi in 2016.

According to Kitany, the photos depicted their traditional marriage which was cemented by a bunch of Miraa.

Sources indicated that more photos showed that the embattled Linturi was present during the ceremony.

Magistrate Peter Gesora had earlier rejected a plea that was presented by the two warring parties.

Kitany and Linturi had made a request to have the case heard in private after concerns were raised over the covering of the matter by the media.

Gesora ruled that the matter would remain public as the couple had agreed on that in the past when the case was first taken to court.

The Magistrate however warned journalists to follow the media guidelines in relaying information to Kenyans.

In January 2019, Linturi had alleged that his estranged wife had forged the divorce papers.

The lawmaker stated that Kitany was a visitor in his house and not his wife and that is why he evicted her from his home in Runda.

“I am in a monogamous relationship with only one woman who is not Kitany,” claimed the Meru lawmaker.
