Gor Mahia trolled for unveiling players archaically

Kenyan Premier League giants Gor Mahia unveiled their new signings on Thursday ahead of their Sunday’s CAF Champions League first leg encounter against Aigle Noir in Bujumbura, Burundi.

However, fans found fault with their unprofessionalism during the entire ceremony, rating it below international standards.

Kenyans expected the KPL titlists to carry out the ceremony in a stadium where the new players get the opportunity to showcase their brilliance before fans as it was done by Tanzanian’s Yanga SC during the presentation of former Bandari FC goalkeeper Faruk Shikhalo.

The same system is applied by some European clubs. For instance, Real Madrid unveiled Eden Hazard at Santiago Bernabeu Stadium before about 50,000 fans. Barcelona too did the same for Frenkie de Jong at Nou Camp before over 20,000 fans.

And K’Ogalo fans thought their club will emulate the two Spanish clubs and their neighbors Yanga SC. Gor, however, conducted it before a battery of journalists and a few club faithful in Nairobi, prompting supporters to throw jabs at the club’s management.

Here were the reactions of fans;

The unveiling of the new players at Gor Mahia was uncouth, unprofessional, barbaric, perfidious, shuffled and vacillating with mediocre. We are GOR MAHIA not any other club and our unveiling should be of international standard #sirkal

Mabuka Victor WochunaWaaah! The unveiling should ought to have been equivalent to the English here

Benny Benito MwangiIt sucks a lot with the calibre our team hold hii ni hujuma

Hatarikatikagoli OumaIt would be of international standard if Gor was, but Gor is not even at the E.African level (cc: Mbao FC, SImba n Yanga) ; this is right given that the fan base has also low standards

Sammy Wuod AweloVery true…..Unveiling players should be in a stadium or training ground in front of fans ……it should not be a boardroom affair

Gone WalterNever expect anything international at Gor Mahia as long as the current office is in place. Their yardstick will forever remain AFC Leopards.
