Families affected by the construction of Arrow and Kimwarer multi-purpose dam have turned down calls by local politicians to demonstrate. The residents said they will not protest over the arrest of KVDA officials implicated in the dams scandal.
Led by John Ayabei, they claimed that graft is long overdue and everyone should carry his own cross.
“There has been pressure by local politicians for us to hold demonstrations to protest against the government for targeting one community in the purge. But we have rejected their overtures,” Ayabei claimed.
Most people on social media have also supported the locals for taking that strong stand against defending graft.
This is d kind if maturity n sanity that Kenyans have been missing for ages. Kudos to those sagacious citizens who refused to b ‘robbed’ n then b used to ‘protect’ the ‘robbers’

The locals have also asked the DPP Noordin Haji to speed up the case for justice to be served.
“We have rejected calls by supporters of the suspects implicated in the dams project scam to hold demonstrations against their arrest. In fact we urge the court to speed up the hearing and determination of the matter so that we can get justice,” Ayabei stated.
This comes just hours after Oscar Sudi accused President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto of using leaders and dumping later dumping them.
“Uhuru is incompetent and uses and dumps hard-working people like former Treasury CS Henry Rotich and PS Kamau Thugge,” Sudi claimed.

However the residents have one regret, most of them have not been compensated despite paving way for the dam construction. They have even been threatened and some compelled to surrender their lands.
