The Rift in the Rift Valley continues to widen as the days go by with rebels standing their ground even as loyalists continue to spread the Ruto Gospel across the region.

William Ruto’s desire to take over from President Uhuru Kenyatta has face a huge backlash from his backyard with a number of leaders so against it.

The leaders have claimed that Ruto is not fit to hold Public office and as such, they will do all it takes to ensure the man from Sugoi does not end up in Statehouse come 2022.

They have however become the center of attacks from Ruto’s foot soldiers who are also willing to even take the bullet for the DP as long as he becomes Kenya’s next President.

The woes of the farmers in Rift Valley have time and again been used to attack Ruto. According to Cherangany MP Joshua Kuttuny and his Nandi Hills Counterpart Alfred Keter, Ruto is an enemy of the farmers in Rift Valley and is to blame for the unending woes of farmers in the region.

It will be remembered that sometime back, Kutuny and Keter sensationally claimed that Ruto had a large maize farm in Congo and that this was to help him become a major maize distributor in the Country at the expense of farmers mainly from the Rift Valley.

Well, the duo have still maintained their stand to date and have continued to attack Ruto over his alleged involvement in the woes of farmers.

Ruto has finally got some much needed backing over the matter he has been accused of.

More than 10 MPs from Rift Valley allied to the Deputy President have lashed out at Kuttuny and co. for using the troubled agriculture sector to incite residents against him (Ruto).

Led by Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi, they accused their colleagues of working with Ruto’s detractors to create the impression he has failed to address the sector challenges.

“We are aware of a scheme by our colleagues to curtail Ruto’s chance of ascending to presidency by using the agriculture sector to paint him in bad light,” said Sudi.

He singled out Moiben MP Silas Tiren, his Cherang’any and Nandi Hills counterparts Joshua Kuttuny and Alfred Keter respectively as the worst “enemies of the Kalenjin community”.

The MP was speaking during the burial of Johana Kinyor Kirwa, the elder brother of Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago at Kuinet village on Saturday.

He was accompanied by Caleb Kositany (Soy), William Chepkut (Ainabkoi), Janet Sitienei ( Turbo), Julius Melly (Tinderet), Cornell Serem (Aldai) and Sylvanus Maritim (Ainamoi). Others were Didmus Barasa (Kimilili, Gideon Koske (Chepalungu), Daniel Rono (Keiyo South), Sila Tiren (Moiben), Gladys Shollei (Uasin Gishu Woman Rep) and Nandi Governor Stephen Sang.

Kositany challenged the MPs to use their powers to champion the rights of cereal growers instead of attacking the government in public forums.

“It is unfortunate that some of our colleagues in Rift Valley have turned the troubled maize sector into a campaign tool to tarnish the image of DP ahead of 2022 polls,” he said.
