Ruto: ‘I thought the World was ending when Mzee Kenyatta Died’

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Thursday led a section of Kenyan leaders to a National Prayer Breakfast Day at Safari Park Hotel.

Deputy President Dr William Ruto, his wife Rachael Ruto, Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka, South Sudan President Salva Kiir, Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka, ANC Party leader Musalia Mudavadi and National Assembly speaker Justin Muturi are among the leaders who turned up for the 17th National Prayer Day.

While giving his speech, Ruto recounted various things that he encountered in his early life.

He started by recounting the day he first wore shoes.

Later, the DP said that he had a confession to make. Taking to his confession, he said that in 1978 when Kenya’s founding father Mzee Jomo Kenyatta passed on, he was on his school holiday and was looking after cows.

Ruto said that he literally took the cows home because he thought it was the end of the world.

“I have a confession to make. In 1978 when the founding father passed on, I remember we were on school holiday and I was looking after cows. I literally took the cows home because I thought it was the end of the world,” he said.

However, Kenyans have refused to buy Ruto’s remarks, accusing him of peddling lies on a national prayer day event.

They have reacted saying that Ruto is just but lying to Kenyans.

Here are some of the reactions.
