Shujaa Wrap Up North American HSBC Duty With A 14-22 Loss To Japan

Kenya’s once glorified and exalted Rugby’s 7’s aside formerly known as Sjujaa has continued to record dismal results in the recent past which was seen in their recent matches in London.

The once pride of Africa team is experiencing the driest seasons of their time having a lot all the five matches that they played but won one to console and rub their tears after their weekend five fixtures that were played in England London.

The Stars won their only consolation match against Samoa recording scores of 20-21 on day one which was one of the best performances of the season despite the losses to Fiji (24-17) and France (31-17).

The second day was no better although the side gave their best going down 29-21 to Scotland in the Challenge Trophy with tries from Andrew Amondes’ brace and one from Jeff Oluoch.

Taabu and Olindi added the three conversions but they were not enough to keep the side safe from dropping their position which dropped Shujaa to the 13thplace semifinal pitting them against Japan who is also in the relegation dog fight.

Although Shujaamissed the crucial services od DanielSikuta and his namesake, Daniel Taabu there is more than meets the eye.

There is reported in-house issues that need to be addressed assume of the players have come out to report. The team that went out to England is not necessarily the first-team thatKEnya usually shields. There are struggles from within the club.

The globally renown players have raised an issue with their salaries where there have been reports that the players are pocketing Ksh 28,000 per month which is far low their status and the fame they bring to the country.

Some of the renown players were even said to have boycotted the training with the others and thus opted out and did not travel with the rest as a result of the same, Willy Ambaka who is one of the top seed players that Kenya has is said to have boycotted the training and travelling to London following the alary debacles.

Apart from the monetary issues, there have been complaining that the coach is not well equipped with the proper training to be at the helm of the Shujaas but that.

The other issue that has been raised is the training facilities where there have been issues with the training kits and apparatus which do not even match a local set up for players that are playing international matches for the country.

This issue coupled together is without a doubt going to have effects on the squad and if there is nothing that is going to be done on the matter then, Shujaas are definitely going to be relegated.
