Kayole man who killed son, 10, for pooing on floor detained

In a rather shocking and bizarre incident, a man suspected of killing his 10-year-old son in Kayole after he pooped and vomited in their house will have to spend 10 more days in police custody pending investigations.

Investigating Officer, Edward Mlanda, told Makadara Chief Magistrate that on the May 16, 2019, Daniel Odongo, the father to the deceased, is believed to have severely beaten his son after the boy developed a stomach problem forcing him to vomit and poop in the house.

According to reports, Odongo allegedly left the boy lying in bed after thorough beating and went to clean the mess and utensils only to return and find the young boy shivering.

The boy child was pronounced dead on arrival at Wilmad Health Centre, Kayole.

According to Officer Mlanda, Odongo was arrested the same day at the health centre and taken to Kayole Police Station.

“I have not completed my investigations and need more time to enable me to record statements from prosecution witnesses and get a postmortem report from the expert,” the investigating officer’s affidavits read.

The boy had allegedly eaten food which resulted in stomach upset.

Since he was alone in the house, he vomited and pooped in the house because he was unable to leave the house.

Elsewhere, residents of Kisii County were left in shock after an 11-year-old boy was on Monday evening killed for allegedly stealing a phone believed to be his grandfather’s

Three of his relatives from Itumbe village in Sameta Constituency are reportedly behind the murder.

Reportedly, the deceased’s grandfather Charles Getugi and two others George Getugi and Jared Getugi beat him to death.

Kisii Police County Commander Martin Kibet said: ”We have arrested two suspects and  are still hunting for the third suspect who is still at large.”

Police confirmed that one of the suspects in custody is the deceased’s grandfather.

According to reports, the Class Five pupil at Amariba Primary School succumbed to his injuries.

Police have since moved the body that had visible injuries on the face and upper limbs to Kisii County Referral Hospital pending an autopsy.
