Detectives from Kisumu have launched investigations following the mysterious death of a form one student from Kisumu Girls High School in Kisumu County.
The student is reported to have been unwell for nearly one week and was confirmed dead on arrival at Kisumu East Referral hospital.
The school principal, nurse and the matron have since been questioned amid queries from authorities on why she was not taken to the health facility in time.
Separately in Kiambu a woman is in a comma after a mugging incident in Banana, Kiambaa.
Mbeyu who is admitted at Belleview Hospital in Nairobi after the attack has accumulated a bill of 3.5 million shillings which her family is unable to pay.
They are now calling on the government and well-wishers to assist them to offset the bill
Residents say the rate of insecurity in the area is alarming.
Separately police in Kisumu West have recovered assorted goods believed to have been seized by thugs during an attempted carjacking incident at Kapsengere border.
One suspect was gunned down by police while two others escaped through a maize plantation.
Finally a man a 45-year-old man Kiunyu village in Gatanga constituency Murang’a County is recuperating at Thika level 5 hospital.
He is alleged to have been sexually assaulted and his genitals chopped off.
Residents say cases of sexual assault against men in the area are on the rise.
